The music and the instrumentation of The Highland Big Band follows the traditions of Count Basie, Duke Ellington, and Stan Kenton jazz ensembles. The Big Band consists of soprano, alto, tenor and baritone saxophones; trombones; trumpets; clarinet; piano; vibraphone; bass guitar; bass; conga drums; and a drum set. The Big Band is a true melting pot of the community with a tremendous range of backgrounds and ages.

Kids Rock is a new, interactive music show for kids and adults that combines music selections and Karaoke songs with fun interactive activities for loads of fun, educational value, and general entertainment.
Shows can be tailored to specific age groups or ranges based on your needs.
Shows are also customizable to your event. When you call or book a
show, we encourage you to think in terms of themes, special activities,
and subjects so we can build a show that reflects things like the day's
events, focus, location or purpose.
Shows are typically 1 hour
in length, but can be expanded to several hours based on your needs.

The Royal Scots, under the direction of Allen Redford, is a mixed ensemble vocal group of current Highland Community College students. These talented vocalists specialize in jazz, American Song classics and a cappella singing. The Royal Scots perform throughout the Midwest, including performances, workshops and clinics in Illinois, Iowa, Wisconsin, and Michigan.
